Beth Beckett was part of the Counselor of Real Estate Consulting Corps (CRE) team invited to consider revitalization opportunities for the distressed Southside neighborhood in Peoria, IL The City of Peoria and the Peoria Area Association of REALTORS® requested that the CRE Consulting Corps provide an unbiased, objective perspective to reimagine the land and community following demolition of two blighted neighborhood school buildings – Harrison and McKinley Schools. The assignment involved an intensive week-long visit to the community to assess the neighborhood and the vacant school buildings. During this trip, the team interviewed over 50 community leaders and organizations active in Peoria’s Southside.
